Depends which one you go with, some of them add some pretty cool storylines actually.

I haven't gone through all of them to be honest, but I played through the Aerie one on my rogue and at the end of the game they ended up married with a kid and there was a lot of storyline focused around the two. I think Jaheria and Viconia are the other two but I've never played through with both of them as I believe you've got to be a human or some sort of elf for them to work.
