As a Brainstorming idea Brad have you thought about product placement in game? It is a way to incorporate revenue I know it would'nt effect me in any way if I was drinkin a "Coke" or "Goblin Grog" in game or gobbling down "Keebler Cookies" instead of "Elven Loaves". I'm not talkin going hog wild with it as to ruin emmersion but some subtle product placement I see no harm in. Plus if it saves the gamer money I'm all for it. I really think there is a way to have our cake n eat it to.
Another thing have a online totally toggle on/off that may give carryout info Pizza ect for the hungry gamer charge companys to post thier info.
I can think of alotta ways to drum up revenue without getting it directly from the gamer only.
Just thought I'd toss that out there talk amongst yourselves.

Product placement can work in the right environment, mainly a virtual world based on the real world set in the recent past, current times, post-apocalyptic times, or the future (sci-fi). I remember the big Coca-cola ad in Blade Runner -- that was cool. But in a High Fantasy game, no, it doesn't work, at all.
