But I think there´s more to it than that. It´s not just the release date - now Sigil controls the content, period. Vanguard is now Sigil´s game, no ifs, ands, or buts. The unfettered Vision can come into full bloom. Vanguard has always been a labor of love, but prior to this contract that was tempered by profit-driven Microsoft as the publisher. Now we know that all content decisions will be made squarely by those who care about the game. While there´s something to be said for constraints driving creativity, in the MMO context most if not all of the most disastrous decisions have been made by corporations aiming directly at the near-term bottom line, and it appears Vanguard will avoid this problem. Sigil now has the power to run the game on their terms. |
