Was this just a means to try and prevent people from developing a large purse, that ultimately doesn't matter in 2 weeks, or is there truely recording methods in place to role back economy/track offenders, if such abuse takes place post launch?

We the beta testers do our best to find and report bugs, and I am sure you had many more people reporting the dupe, as you had abusing it, but...
We do not spend all day, every day, trying to break/abuse the game, to the point of personal gain. If hacks happen, how prepared is the current Vanguard system to deal with it?

Beta is a time to find as many exploits as possible, although undoubtedly we will find some post-launch. Testers that report exploits first are what we are looking for, as opposed to using them and either a. not reporting them or b. reporting them after they've taken advantage of the bug.
