One of the points that confuses me when I read posts like this from the player base is the assumption that the entire game is going to change to be something "less" than it was.
Do players really feel that adding additional content to support more playstyles (as we have /always/ said we will do) is turning the game into something else?
Honestly, we have no intention of changing say, our existing group dungeons, to be "more solo friendly" dungeons. How does it hurt the "hardcore" - or as I like to say commited gamer, by adding more for the guy that has 1.5 hours to play? How does it hurt the casual guy by adding more committed content? It doesn't.
I've seen multiple posts up in arms about the prospect of teleportation in the game. Please understand guys, it was /never/ our intention to create a game that is /more hardcore/ than EverQuest was at release.
I think our messaging over the years may not have been clear enough, as people have twisted and turned every word about Vanguard into "It's only for the hard core player that eats and breaths the game only" etc.
We originally said our game was about Casual Group and Raid. At a specific ratio. I think you can look at Vanguard now, and where Vanguard needs to be and say that it needs to be about Casual, Core, and Committed players. The ratios need to be adjusted and tweaked with, and content added to support these playstyles and time types.
Also, accessibility is not "EZ" mode. Forming groups when in a guild is generally a snap. Forming groups when you /want to group/ but your the guy with only 2.5 hours to play each night and your not in a guild - well thats problematic.
