(NOTE: We anticipate Writs going to Test server in the next patch cycle, so I am providing this primer as a heads up on what is coming.)
Writs are quests from one Diplomatic center to another that can only be acheive d if certain conditions are met.
While on a Writ, you will note that the primary reward you receive is a choice of "facets." These facets come in one of seven colors:
Ruby Druse
Emerald Matrix
Sapphire Glance
Topaz Shank
Onyx Ribbon
Diamond Chip
Iolite Aspect
Alone, these facets are useless. By taking these facets to the Lamplighter Lapidarian in each of the nine main cities, you can turn them in for a chance at receiving Gems in return.
I won't spoil the names or types of gems, but they come in two primary varieties: normal and super. This means there are a total of 14 types of Gems from Writs.
Lapidarians also offer for sale a number of masks. These are empty masks with no inherent value.
You can combine gems in combinations of 1,2, or 3 gems ONCE per mask to build a customized magical item.
An example of one of these items is:
Hermit Exemplar, with Doublet and Coalescent Solitaire Mask
This mask has 1 green super gem and a normal green and purple gem in it.
Each mask, depending on the gems placed within it, has specific benefits. It is an exercise for the playerbase to determine the benefits of each of these gem and how they combine.
An example:
Ruby Druses can possibly be turned into Ruby Asters. Placed in a Diplomacy Mask, it grants +1 Demand at the start of a parley.
If you place 2 Ruby Asters in the same Mask, and you get +2 Demand at the start of a parley.
3 Asters? Not +3! I'll let you make one and find out.
