Guys, we didn't stealth nerf anything. Death exp has worked this way on live since release. (We did test a change on the test server, that did not hit live ever.)
The amount of exp lost on death is not static per level. Its roughly 10% at the low end, but at the high end, its not 10%.
We selected a maximum amount of time that we wanted players to "lose" if they did not recover their corpse - based on an "average class" killing two dots. At a certain level, I think perhaps 37ish (I don't that particular spreadsheet available right now), the penalty of /time/ starts to cap out.
You regain 85% of the lost experience when recovering your tombstone - that number is static. You always lose 15% of whatever the total loss is when you die. This has not changed.
On the note of "Stealth Nerfing" - its simply not in Sigil's best interest to "Stealth Nerf" things. We always strive to be up front about changes we are making to the game. That doesnt mean all the information always gets out there, but we don't attempt to hide patch information from our players.
