It was decided internally that the highest level for an adventuring item would be 53. This means items from our highest tier raids will be no higher than level 53. Since, due to the natural progression of crafting, we had items that were a few levels higher I had to reduce the level to the agreed upon level limit. This is a design department decision that was approved by upper management. The same goes for BOE, it was mulled over, ideas were thrown out, and this was what was decided. I am aware of the repercussions and I am looking into ways to resolve these consequences but they will not happen immediately.
We are doing what we can with what we have. We have a large game and 3 spheres that need attention. Many of the ideas expressed on these boards are solid and something to be considered (except permanent decay) if we had the resources to code these features/changes in a timely manner then our list of options would be longer. Crafting is not being killed, Vanguard is not trying to remove the system from its world, and we are not WoWizing crafting, but I have to consider any changes adventuring makes and evaluate what has to happen on the crafting side then get it approved if it is a major change.
The desire is to make crafting more accessible and to integrate the spheres beyond the standard relationship of I make items for adventurers. Does this mean crafting becomes easier, I am not sure but some positive tweaks are coming after we finish the stat update that we are working on now, in the form of ultra rare resource drop rates, XP, and reqs on tier 5 upgrades.
