From what I have gathered, LOTR online looks absolutely amazing on a graphical standpoint. They have definitely focused a lot on the outdoor scene while still paying attention to the indoors, though, one thing stands to be considerably different. One thing that disturbs me is what Oblivion did in their game. The transition from outdoor to indoor into any building takes you to a load screen. IMO, that breaks the immersion factor ten-fold. I should be able to go from place to place without the burden of a load screen.

One other thing that I have noticed is that LOTR is that it is pretty story driven; being vastly different than a traditional online game. Overall, It seems like a pretty simple game. People that love a game where they can pop on, spend an hour or so, solo around, yeah, LOTR will be for them. People looking for a challenge will definitely turn their head to Vanguard.

When would I say it would be released? I would say it is likely they will release it the beginning of next year, Spring 07.

It's very hard to make a more story-driven game -- at least in the short term -- but best of luck to them. The more great MMOGs out there the better for everyone, developer and gamer alike. I wish them the best.

Also didn't know about the loading to get from one area to another. Definitely an area, if true, where the Vanguard engine is more advanced and immersive, but certainly nothing that would keep a game from being a blast.
