The aprons are identical in power. The only difference is where their strengths lie.

The Cabal apron is spread thinly across the attributes, and heavily across the skills in comparison to the Inventors apron. The Inventors apron has lower skill bonuses in two out of the three, but it has a very large boost to reasoning and ingenuity, while matching problem solving.

The Merchant's Guild apron is very focused giving a huge boost to finesse and tool use. It is more specialized than the other two (and rounds it out with some utility skill and reasoning boosts), but the increases are very significant.

So while the apron may seem poor for your character, or doesn't have a setup you like, I assure you they are essentially equal. Just different.
