The other suprising thing is that no one seems to want to give anything like a firm projection for precisely what they hope to accomplish to fix the game. (They had a couple of vague pronouncements: one from a community manager saying to expect big changes and another from Smedley saying they would retain the "hardcore" character of the game. But nothing concrete).

I would have expected SOE to put out a statement day one of the take over with a list of items that will be fixed and a projected time for the fix. The problems were well known and Sony had total access to the game assets before the purchase. Who dropped the ball?

The silence I think leads to only one reasonable conclusion: Sony realized after the purchase that they bit off more than they could chew. I think they haven't said what they are doing because at this point they still don't know. They are probably struggling to see if the root performance issues can even be fixed.

Whether they admit it publically or not, I think Vanguard's future is still very much in play.

The reality of the situation is they are waiting for me to give give them the specifics and I haven't yet. In the producer letter I posted earlier this week I gave an overview of whats going on in general. That should answer most of your questions. Currently we are evaluating the real state of the game, what needs to be fixed, what features didn't make ship, what features / content do we still feel the game needs, etc. That's primarily done now for the first milestone and we will be posting what that is soon.

I apologize for it taking a little while, but I want to make sure going forward that when we say a feature / fix is coming, that it's delivered when we said it was going to be. I know, it's a crazy idea. And to do that correctly, it takes some upfront planing.
