I enjoy the quick run in kill everything and run out approach. A carry over from my COH tanking days.
Now that you know all that I first came in looking to play and test the inquisitor class. I was disheartened that the class was not in beta 3 so i took the next class i wanted to play which is a rogue. I played one in DDO and they were very fun to play. I built the toon Jook.
Now Jook is a dark elf rogue who enjoys the option of making money... any way he can. At the early levels i loved the option of coming in and backstabbing the mobs. You don?t insta kill them but you do enough damage to out an evil grin on your face as you play. So doing the missions as a rogue and getting to lvl 7 i stopped and took on the other role i wanted to be a crafter.
Crafting in this game is rather fun and challenging. As an artificer i found the tutorial on this to be very easy to read and do. Giving you a chance to create your first item and seeing your toon raise its hands in celebration of completing the task was a basically the same thing i did. Artificing as a craft is not highly rewarding early on making plates and glasses and such as part of the work order process can be at times tedium but i always keep in mind that it allows me to gain the exp and lvlling i need to move forward and gain recipes. I have a few recipes now as an lvl 11 crafter and i am looking forward to getting more. On the whole the crafting exp has been very fun and rewarding.
Then lastly there is my fav part right now.. .Harvesting. I love to harvest. If I could lvl just harvesting i think i would. As of late i have spent the last 2 days doing nothing but harvesting. I took quarrying and mining and both of them i just love the look and sound as Jook swings a pickaxe or hammer. The finding of resources is the challenge part of this. In Qaila which is still in development it was hard to find those 2 items on a reg basis they are just so spread out and hard to come by. I took the notion to move to the dwarf city of Bordinar's Cleft.
Now before I get into how much i am finding there I need to say that making the trip from Qalia to BC on horseback was a challenge. And visually stunning. Riding from one side to the other you see so many new mobs that you have never seen before. I remember this one time stopping within the mountains near BC and looking up to see this huge eagle. Gliding... i mean it was actually just gliding like eagles do... i thought it was the coolest thing. The snow began to fall all so slowly while standing there. The game is just visually stunning. I am looking forward to seeing it on a 7950x2 on high settings. I run the game right now on a 6800GT on med settings and the rendering in the game is quite good. A lot of great detail in the works i can see that.
However let?s get back to harvesting. In BC and the surrounding area there is so much ore and slabs to mine it?s not even funny. I could spend a week doing this and not get board.
Overall... the game is becoming a very solid playable game the crafting is rewarding and challenging the harvesting is fun and the adventuring is a just the icing on the cake. I look forward to the release of the last isle Kojan to see what all it has to offer and also to dabble in player housing. I want a guild hall the size of BC. Now I know they are not going to allow that... but oh that would so be the best thing.
Brad you and your team have a wonderful game here. Amid all the screaming on the Necro nerfs and such i can see where this game is going and speaking as someone who looks for 2 things in a game the mechanics and the easiness i say that this will be a game that many will call home when it goes live. Thanks for letting me in the beta and i look forward to hearing your response on this email.
these are my thoughts on what i have seen so far within the beta.. thanks for reading..
