Also keep in mind that there are a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of outfits that we've either never shown or only shown in official screenshots. By beta 4ish, I would expect the number of outfits/gear that visually makes you appear different to grow almost by an order of magnitude.

Why is it taking a while? As always, I'll be up front with you -- there a bit a of a bottleneck we are dealing with where we have a lot of outfits done to a certain degree, but are held up in the final process of getting this in game. We've identified the bottleneck and given those people more resources and better tools, hence my confident that by beta 4 some time you'll see a lot more variety amongst players all through the levels and spheres.

That and we have new hair tech and art that is coming in relatively soon that is really nice (I posted some of the in-progress shots and will post some more). So that will not only give players more options in terms of cutomizing their character in terms of hair, the quality of the hair art has gone up considerably too. This too should be in by beta 4, if not sooner.

Other than that, I don't know of any major changes to character models coming up, but I'll ask around. So at this point: lots more outfits/suits of armor/etc. coming and more variety and higher quality hair coming. Between the two, I think our characters will look a lot better.
