Brad, you've been around long enough to know how sensitive people can be about these sorts of things. There is a history with you and FOH that make it easy for people to jump to the wrong conclusions automatically. Given your position, I'd suggest you tread very carefully in that respect. Molehills are made into mountains very easily in that regard as you well know.
It's easier to not light the fire than try and contain it afterward if you know what I mean. Anyway, I get where you're at and don't have a problem with it. It's your world, man, and I just want to be part of it. So it's really no sweat off my back whether or not FOH has some edge that I don't - which I'm not saying, nor even suspect they do. In short, I can't be bothered getting my panties in a bunch, whatever you do with FOH. I'll still play and do my own thing, and so long as FOH and your relationship to them doesn't impact - in a negative way - on my experience feel free to knock yourself out.
Cool. As far as I know the actual FoH guys (NOT the posters on their boards) play WoW all of the time and a bunch of them do or at least did work for Blizzard. I have no idea if most of them will like Vanguard or not.
I did interact with them quite a bit back in the EQ days -- they, Afterlife, and a few other guilds were often the first to hit higher level content and watching them helped us fix issues, find exploits, etc. Heh, I still remember personally banning Furor twice (once during beta I think, and then once after launch). All that said, after I left SOE they did make Aradune an honorary member one day when I was playing EQ in-between leaving SOE and founding Sigil. I thought that was pretty cool of them to do, given how much we watched and hounded them. That said, their rep was certainly questionable, and the constant rants and threats to boycott the game if we didn't do X or Y were entertaining. They and others learned pretty quickly that we wouldn't, couldn't, and didn't want to do what they demanded and we called their bluff. In fact, that's where some of the 'Vision isn't flexible at all' rumors popped up, because in those cases, even had a signficant number of people quit (and I don't think they would have), we would never bend to that sort of behavior. You just can't be blackmailed and you have to do what's right for the game as a whole.
