I think the fact that they made their ocean this big is simply great. This is realistic only when comparing to our homeplanet Earth. Other planets in the universe may have more land than water.

World of Warcraft, to just name a recent popular title, probably *also* has a lot more water than land, but the difference is that you cannot go there. Telon on the other hand doesn't limit you from visiting any square inch of the world (even if you may have to fly there by winged mount). So it's only natural that there's ocean, and a lot of it.

I, for one, am really happy that they did it this way, because it makes opening up expansions (with new land) a lot easier and they don't have to try to 'fit it into the already too small world'. Imagine that there's not so much water. If they'd then want to insert an expansion island (Just for my sake, let's say that Atlantis resurfaces, which I believe was a continent), they didn't have to stretch the ocean, increasing the existing distances between other continents. In a world like that of Warcraft, where you never actually get to see how much distance there's between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kaladim anyway, it doesn't matter and a boat will certainly port to a new location which technically isn't even located between them but just another 'patch' of zones separate from the rest of the game. There won't be a world-wide consistent coordinate system.

Last but not least I wanted to make a point about 'things to do at the ocean'. I bet that if you take a bath tub, attach a sail to it and go on your own trip across the ocean, that you'll be in for a very boring trip indeed, with only water. Assuming your bath tub will withstand the waves etc. so you don't sink. Apart from a shark possibly being interested in you I don't think you'll see any excitement, unless indeed you end up in a storm (but I don't think that's going to be fun). Oceans are just big laps of water. Vanguard and other fantasy games have the advantage of there still being pirates around, and some fantastic sea creatures, but in reality on Earth you will not see that. And even if you would, they're not to be found every 500 meters, otherwise the world's population 'at sea' (not referring to 'below the surface&#039 would be bigger than on the land itself. A logical effect is that sailing long distance across the ocean is not a very interesting thing to do.

Well said, thanks
