Questing in Ganareth
Quests are an important part of Dark and Light. The higher the level, the more the quests will depend on meteorology, astrology and external effects. Gamers are continually trying to enhance or improve their chances of success by creating the most advantageous scenario. We are putting particular emphasis on the GM aspect of the game; they will have real power to create quests and affect other activities as well.
There will be different epic quests for each of the DnL classes. The epic quest makes it possible to obtain a complete set of weapons and armour, each sub quest making it possible to recover part of the set. There will be 3 epic quests: For levels 20 to 40, 40 to 70 and one for levels 80 and higher. These epic quests exist in not only the Fighting aspects, but also in social. They are increasingly difficult, and are independent from/to each other.
There will be quests based on exploration such as ones with small animals which will be only in the 'out of the way' places. An example, will require a player to find it, see it and then takes a kind of photograph (sketch), for their personal album.. Thus there is a whole management completely based on exploration which will make it possible to the players to have access to special things such as unique skills and objects.
You will have the ability, depending on your level, to see certain things that you can’t when you’re lower level, thus possibly affecting a quest you are doing. Also, you will be able to do certain quests, or part of a quest when reaching the appropriate level.
Dark and Light will offer many quests adapted to all the styles of play. Dark and Light will propose two types of quests: a collection type, and a quest more traditional. Some could be limited in time, because quests limited in time are generally because of the objects which will intervene. If the object is perishable, the quest could only be carried out during the time which the object exists. A quest begins only when the player wishes it. The timer of a quest does not begin instantaneously and contrary to other games, the risk of seeing a quest expiring before one has started to be interested in it is tiny.
Quest of the type collection mainly aim at collecting various objects in the game. These objects can take very diverse forms since it could be a question of finding a specific plant, known to grow only in one specific area of Ganareth or simply to bring back a sketch (a screen shot) of a particular area. This quest type, can take on many varying forms.
You collect in the order that you wish. One can ask to find an object, for example, or the touching of a dragon. You do not need to carry a blow to him, it is necessary just to touch it... and run very quickly then. These quests will be significant for the explorers, for example and they will not inevitably need to fight as it may only be necessary to find an old treasure or to make a discovery.
There are many tools to prepare quests. One can easily create the single object scenarios or creatures without having it come through the programmers - It is very simple for the game designers. You may have a quest asking you to find an object at a certain place, but when arriving at the spot, there is nothing to find... Perhaps it is not possible to find with the snow present because the object is under snow and it is not seen until the new season. Some simple research will be required, as these collection quests can take complex forms - taking into account the time of the year (can such plant be gathered only in spring) or the climatic conditions (the object appears only when snow melts).
With traditional quests, the quest could be followed via a quest journal. This journal will illustrate the various branches of progression of the quest, symbolizing the choices the player has made at each stage of their mission. The player can thus always control the evolution of his quest and the options selected.
The player chooses a branch of the quest and follows a tree of progression according to their skills. To validate three branches, for example, there is an objective to fill, without inevitably fighting. In fact, the Book of quest allows a visualization of the quest tree. We can give information via this book or leave the player in the 'dark' so that they have to find by themself. With the end, the quest and the info contained within the book of quest will be true enigmas.
It is known that there will be assistances on Internet, but we have also easy ways... For example, the quest will be related to the characteristics of the characters. Some will be opened in Darks, others only with the Lights... or two alignments. The quest can also be related to the race or the class of the character, etc. The graph will be calculated differently according to specificities' of the character.
Some quests will also be based on the weather.
